Airport Road Intermediate School Library Hours

Debbie Jones, Media Specialist

The ARIS Media Center welcomes all students, teachers, and parents to the library!  There is a good collection of books and reference materials for students. Students will find fiction and non-fiction books to check out, computers for research, and trained library staff who can help them find all they need!  Teachers can find a professional collection, teaching manipulatives, sets of trade books, and a video collection.

BOOK CLUB:  The ARIS Book Club meets the first Tuesday of each month after school in the media center.  Members read and discuss at least one book a month.  They also preview new arrivals to the library!

ACCELERATED READER:  ARIS students and teachers particpate in the Accelerated Reader (AR) program.  Students take the STAR test to determine their reading level, then check out AR books in a reading range based on their test results.  Over the course of the year, students will read books, take quizzes on their books, and improve their reading levels.

AR STORE:  Students who reach their AR goals, both points and percent correct, will be invited to shop at the AR Store each semester.

MONTHLY READING CHALLENGE:  Students are challenged to read a different genre or non-fiction topic each month and earn prizes for completing a challenge.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:  The Media Center needs volunteers, especially those who could give a half or whole day each week.  Please see Mrs. Jones if you are interested.

DONATIONS NEEDED:  The media center needs books!  Public school libraries receive limited funding from the state education budget.  There is little money left for books, processing materials, reading rewards, etc.  In past years, we have had to remove many books from circulation because they were in such poor condition.  We need books to replace them.  You can donate books or money to purchase books.  Library bound books are preferred but not required.  Books donated need to be in very good condition since they will circulate often.

We also need basic items like office supplies, sanitizer, tissues, etc.

See Mrs. Jones for more information.

**Please support our two book fairs this year.  Currently, they are the primary source of revenue for the library.

TONER CARTRIDGES:  The media center collects and recycles used toner cartridges to exchange for discounts on office supplies.  Please place your cartridges in the one of the labeled boxes around campus or in the library.
